My God shall supply all your needs

On Sunday preaching through Genesis 13, we saw how Abram trusted God with his livelihood and we were challenged to walk by faith and not by sight. This mornings devotional reading is very good with many promises and reminders of God's provision for us and our calling to seek him and his kingdom and righteousness.

Last night's reading strck me since we studyed Abram's being very rich and yet trusting God with his future as he let Lot chose which way he would go. You can read the devotional here:

Remember Nimrod?

Nimrod had basically a one world government concept. The people of the world were of one language and they wanted to make a name for themselves. The Bible tells us that God confused their languages and forced scattering all over the earth. This essentially formed the nations of the world. The Bible also tells us that the antichrist will have world domination and will operate from a one world government position. A one world economic system and a one world religion are necessary for this to 'work'.

Abraham the father of our faith

This next week we will be studying Genesis 11 and 12. Here we find the story of Abraham. God called him to leave all that he knew and go to a land that God would show him. This morning I was reading "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers and the devotional was about Abraham. It is well worth reading. You can click on the link below to read it.

Pray with me

It was GREAT to arrive at Mathis Field and see Wendy, Kyra, David and Katie there to welcome me home! Man - did I ever miss my family while I was in Lahore.

The busy streets of Lahore were a great adventure, but it is also a stark reminder of all the millions of people all over the world that do not yet know Jesus Christ. Our task is to make him known to the nations.

Please pray with me about continuing the work in Pakistan. Before we left we met with church leaders there about next spring. Not only do we want to have multiple evangelistic crusades, but we also want to support indigenous pastors and evangelists in their day to day work of making disciples. We would like to help them to plant more churches in the villages where there are not churches. Because of the volatile situation there, few outside groups are going to the area. Yet, we find that Jesus has given us an OPEN DOOR.

I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. Revelation 3:8

Big News

The March 2010 Suicide bombings made wikipedia. It's not a big story, but you can read it here.

March 2010 Lahore Bombings

Our world is volatile. In the midst of this volatile world, the gospel of Jesus Christ is as relavant today as it was when he was born in Bethlehem!

More news out of Lahore: News

Security

Security is an issue in Pakistan. Here are a few pics of our hotel. You can see armed guards, check points, concertina wire, barricades and vehicle checks before anyone gets into the hotel.

Even at church you find armed security. This man is an uncle of the pastor and his home is very near the church.
We are currently in Dubai and will fly out later tonight. This morning as we flew out of Lahore, we read the morning newspaper. Here is a link to one of the stories:

Sunday, March 14, 2010

We received a warm welcome at the church this morning! To our surprise we were a part of the official first service in the new church building! David and Wes stayed here to worship and I went across town to another church to preach. Here is one of the pastors and his family.

Church

Today, we will be preaching in local churches. Here is a pic of the pastor we have been working with. David and Wes will preach in his church today and I will go to the only other chuch in town.
Please pray for us as we go. What a privilidge to be able to worship with the body of Christ in another land. I will be praying for you as you gather to worship.

Police

We met the deputy superintendant of the police today. He has been very helpful in sending men to be our escorts and security while we were visiting his village.
We had a wonderful opportunity to encourage these men and to share the gospel with them.
They too are on the front lines here!

Pastors Conference

Today, we had the privilidge of teaching at a pastors and leaders conference. About 50 pastors, evangelists and their families were present to focus on faithfulness in worship, surrerender, and the Word of God.

This is where the REAL leg work of the ministry is done. Day in, day out these men and their families are here making disciples. We have the opportunity to come alongside them and help them in their work.

Please pray for the ongoing work of these men of God.

Pastor's Conference Today

Morning Headlines

Pray for us and the pastors today as we teach at the annual pastor's conference. God's people need shepherds. Pray that God gives us wisdom to encourage them and equip them to make disciples!

Testimonies

The pastor holds up a baby boy to the thousands gathered to hear the gospel tonight. This woman was not able to have a child and the team prayed for her last year during the crusade. She is giving glory to God that he has answered her prayer and given her a child. (Hannah)
Tonight was a sureal night. During the singing time we received word that two more bomb blasts had gone off in Lahore. Every man was frisked by security coming into the meeting tonight. And security was the tighest it has been.
We could hear the Imam teaching and praying over the loudspeaker a block away as thousands openly and oldly proclaimed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ! No eyes were closed and heads bowed tonight! It was, "Stand up if you want to trust in Jesus Christ and in him alone!" Thousands responded.
...I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth...Romans 1:16a
Pray for us! I love you and miss you all!
In Christ,
Rody

Police protection

As we were having lunch today, our friends got a call saying there was another bombing in Lahore. You can read a Breaking News Update here.

It makes me thankful for our nightly police excort to and from the event. These are some of the men who provide us security each night as we travel and during the preaching services.

You can also see more videos here.
I love you all and thank you for praying for us!
When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs 16:7

Night 2

Here are some videos of tonight! God has new children in his family!

This is the site of the suicide bombing that took place on Monday. The people's houses that were destroyed are now living in these tents.
Here was a front page article this morning: Militants blow up charity's office - kill 6.
Hebrews 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

More from the first night

Today, we visited the Christian school that our guests run. They have about 475 students in 10 grades.

Please pray for us tonight as we will be preaching again at about 8 PM (9 AM Texas time).

Here is some of the message from last night.

First night

The first night of the crusade was AMAZING! Thousands of people were there tonight to hear from God and to trust in Jesus Christ!

Wes shared his testimony and sang some songs in English and some in Urdu!

I gave a testimony and shared how we are all of one blood by birth (Acts 17:26-27) and we can all be brothers and sisters through faith in Jesus Christ and the new birth!

David preached from Romans 5 and shared that Christ had to die to pay for our sins! He preached on God's love for the people and over 1000 people responded to the gospel invitation to trust in Christ ALONE for salvation! It truly was a Holy Spirit led meeting. Praise the Lord and rejoice that names have been written down in heaven!

Brothers in Christ

Brothers in Christ! Here I am with Wes James, Azeem Dawood and Shehrazer Dawood. Azeem will translate for us as we speak tonight and Shehrazer has been working hard on all the logistics.

Please pray for us - the service starts at 7:00 PM tonight (8:00 AM Texas).

We will be preaching in a village outside Lahore. Pray that we will decrese and Jesus will increase (John 3:30)!

Lahore is a city of over 6 million.

Here are some pics from the roof of our hotel.

A rickshaw is a taxi here in Lahore!

The motorbike is a major means of transportation for people here in Lahore. You will see a man, his wife (riding side-saddle), and his children buzzing through town on a motorbike!

It's not the Gideons...

When you come into the hotel room, there is a little clear plastic sign with an arrow on it hanging from the doorframe. It is pointing in the dierction of Mecca so followers of Islam know which way to kneel for prayer.

There is a complementary prayer rug.

And a copy of the Koran.

Lahore

We arrived in Lahore, Pakistan about 4:15 PM Tuesday, March 9. A car bomb exploded here in Lahore yesterday morning. Here is a link to a news aritcle.

Bomb in Lahore kills 8

It is good to see some old friends at the airport! Christian brothers we have worked with in the past met us and brought us to the hotel. It is good to see some of the hotel staff from the last time I was here. Saturday night was the last time I slept in a bed, so after we get a bite to eat, we are going to sleep!

Love you all and pray that Jesus be lifted up!
In Christ,
Rody
